Bees recognize human faces
Research reported in The Journal of Experimental Biology suggests that honeybees can learn to distinguish faces from non-faces. Bees learn face-like configurations of elements such as eyes, nose, and mouth in photos, and when the elements are re-arranged, the bees no longer categorize the photos as faces. One of the researchers suggests that understanding how bees recognize faces could be useful for designing automatic face recognition systems.
