Earthmine 3-D Maps enhances augmented reality
Earthmine, a startup focused on improving augmented reality, is developing 3-D images of cities. The accurate city maps enable better overlays of augmented reality tags, which are often poorly placed in today’s applications. According to a Wired article, their technology can "localize [a developer's] camera position to less than a foot, and its orientation just fractions of a degree, versus 20 to 30 feet with a GPS, and 20 degrees with the [iPhone's] compass".
