R&D Scientist – Networking & Communications in Los Angeles
Job Requirements:
The candidate is expected to have the following skill set
• Well versed with OSI architecture, specifically Network and MAC layer protocols
• Extensive experience with IETF standards, strong background in Internet protocols design, implementation, and test
• Familiar with adaptive TDMA and hybrid CSMA/TDMA schemes for wireless networks
• Well versed with different ad hoc wireless network environments, Network Coding concepts, and Unicast and Multi-cast routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, OLSR, PIM, ODMRP etc.), and network management mechanisms
• Experience with network simulators such as QualNet, OPNET, NS-2, or network emulators such as CORE, EMANE
• Excellent programming skills in C/C++ and scripting languages, such as Perl, Python
• US citizenship or permanent residency is required
Education:
Ph. D from a reputed school in the area of Computer Networking/Sensor Networks/Mobile Ad-hoc Networks/Embedded Systems.

UC seeks outstanding candidates for a full-time research and development scientist position for its networking and communications research group. The scientist will design, develop, and test tactical area routing protocols, network management mechanisms, topology control solutions, waveform interoperability and gateway solutions in tactical ad hoc networks.
