Video Analysis Senior Research Engineer
Department Description:
The Information & Content Enablers Lab within Motorola’s Applied Research Center researches and develops innovative content analysis & processing technologies and applies them to create differentiating capabilities in Motorola’s products. We are a team-oriented research group with expertise in video, audio, and text analysis and processing technologies and their application to Motorola’s home entertainment, public safety, and enterprise businesses. Our video team’s expertise focuses on video/image analysis, computer vision, video processing and compression technologies.
Job Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for research, development, software implementation, and testing of computer vision and video/image analysis algorithms and their application to promising new business opportunities. Job duties include:
* Research computer vision and video/image analysis algorithms, develop software implementations of the algorithms, evaluate performance and refine the methods;
* Collaborate in cross-functional teams to develop multimedia system prototypes, integrating video algorithms and software;
* Generate patent disclosures covering the algorithms created and the systems enabled;
* Present results and demonstrations of research at internal meetings, internal technical conferences, external professional conferences, and standards bodies.
Initial responsibilities will focus on developing computer vision algorithms and system prototypes that analyze, automatically tag, and index video for video search applications.
Basic Qualifications:
PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, with a concentration in computer vision
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
* Graduate-level studies in computer vision, machine learning, pattern recognition, and video signal processing algorithms;
* 3+ years industry experience in the research, software implementation, and application of computer vision and video/image analysis algorithms is preferred;
* 5+ years experience programming using C, C++, and object oriented design methods, including working knowledge of core libraries and design patterns;
* Experience using OpenCV for computer vision and video/image analysis algorithm development; Matlab experience is a plus;
* Experience developing Graphical Processing Unit (GPU) software implementations of computer vision and video/image analysis algorithms is also a plus;
* Strong teamwork and communication skills, passion, creativity, productivity and learning agility.
