We are looking for a hands-on senior web developer to design and develop our next generation web-based video applications. Basic Requirements
This position requires a deep understanding of web architectures and platforms. The candidate should have a solid understanding of web portal development, and be able to guide and mentor team members. Broad knowledge of web architectures based on LAMP is necessary. Experience with AJAX, JavaScript, and web services is a must. Specific experience with video handling is a plus.
A strong background in databases, with hands-on experience with SQL, stored procedures and multi-tier architectures is necessary. Programming knowledge of C/C++ is necessary to work with back-end video processing libraries and tools. Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python, PHP or Perl is required. A working knowledge of configuration management tools such as Perforce is required.
Familiarity with iterative development processes is required.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, good inter-personal skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment are required. Light travel within the United States will be required.
Work Experience Requirements
A minimum of 10 years of experience in software and application development is required, with at least 3 years in a lead role with key responsibility for a high traffic web portal. We are looking for individuals with a fundamental understanding of building blocks, who relish figuring out the inner workings of web and application servers.
This candidate should have recent experience in a technical design role. This position requires a solid conceptual understanding of software architectures and the ability to evaluate and make design decisions. This candidate must enjoy programming and software development.
Education Requirements
This position requires a B.S. degree in Engineering or Science.
A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering is a plus.
An advanced degree is desirable.
