PhD position: Experienced researcher on Affective Computing for VIGO (SPAIN)

We are looking for a very creative and motivated experienced researcher on Affective Computing-related topics. The applicant must have at least 3 years of postdoctoral research experience, and strong background in pattern recognition, machine learning, speech processing and computer vision.
Background on cognitive and social sciences applied to automatic affect analysis and social signal processing is desired, though not required. The applicant will complement and extend Gradiant’s current knowledge on facial expression recognition, Human-Computer Interfaces, and multimodal analysis of human behavior.

The recruited expert will be in charge of leading Gradiant’s R&D activities related to “Affective Computing”, as well as proposing new ideas mainly related (but not limited) to this research field. The topics in which the recruited expert will work are among the following:
• Recognition of affective states from face and body gestures in spontaneous behavior.
• Classification between genuine and posed emotions.
• Speech analysis for emotion recognition.
• Affective state recognition from physiological measures.
• Methods for multi-modal recognition of affective states.
• Recognition of group emotions and interactions.
• Computational models of human emotion processes (e.g., decision-making models that take into account the influence of emotions)
• Affective computing related applications, including: e-learning (e.g. affective tutoring systems), e-health (e.g. (fake) pain detection), affect-based interactive media (e.g. videogames and cartoons), automatic analysis of human interactions (e.g. call centers), neuromarketing, etc.
